From 5 in the evening until 5 in the early morning, the tempting aromas from home-style cooking, the friendly laughter and welcoming voices, the promising clatter of dishes and cooking activities signaled a cozy gathering spot. For years, Vies was very popular with the local Black community as well as many visiting celebrities and entertainers.
